NSW: Amendment to provide protection in the workplace

SYDNEY, Feb 28 AAP - Employers can no longer use family responsibilities as an excuse
not to hire, train or promote workers under changes to the New South Wales Anti-Discrimination
Act announced today.

The carers' amendments would ensure people with caring responsibilities were not discriminated
against in the workplace or prevented from gaining employment, president of the Anti-Discrimination
Board Chris Puplick said.

Employers would also have to give serious consideration to workers' requests for roster
