Fed: Latham making a late charge - Fitzgibbon

CANBERRA, Dec 2 AAP - Labor's treasury spokesman Mark Latham was making a late charge
for the party's leadership, securing some undecided votes, opposition resources spokesman
Joel Fitzgibbon said today.

"I think Mark Latham is making a late rush, yes," he told reporters.

But Mr Fitzgibbon said he could work with Kim Beazley if he toppled Mr Latham in the
caucus ballot.

"There's a time in the affairs of all men and parties and today is a big day for the
Labor Party," he said.

"It's a time for renewal, a time to rebuild and we're looking forward to the future."
