WA: Prime minister pleased with today's unemployment figures
PERTH, April 6 AAP - Today's unemployment rate reflects the strength of the Australian
economy, Prime Minister John Howard said today.
The figures were "very, very good", Mr Howard told journalists in Perth.
"The unemployment rate nationally has fallen to five per cent, there is a 27,000 rise
in people employed last month," Mr Howard said.
"And I am very happy to say that the unemployment rate in Western Australia is 4.1(per cent).
"And I am sure that's attributed to the strength of the national economy and it's also,
I know, attributed to the contribution that Western Australia plays in the national economy."
