NSW: Heritage criteria to protect suburbs from Sydney Metro

Sydney's CBD Metro project will be built under heritage guidelines to protect the historic
character of parts of the city.

New South Wales Transport Minister DAVID CAMPBELL says the heritage principles are
designed to conserve the surrounds of the five billion dollar project which will run from
Central to Rozelle.

The criteria were developed by Sydney Metro in consultation with the National Trust
of Australia and community groups which protested against the proposals for Pyrmont and
Rozelle.

The National Trust has welcomed the adoption of the principles.
